Mt. Abram Policies

Bike Park 2024

All riders at the bike park must have a day ticket or season pass. The ticket or pass should be visible at all times, generally affixed to the underside of the rear of the seat.

 

An uphill season pass/regular season pass or uphill ticket is required for access to the park on non-operational days. Trail conditions are not guaranteed. Normal signage may or may not be in place and riders must use caution to avoid any active trail maintenance or other mountain operations that may be taking place. Equipment, vehicles and machinery may be present and should be avoided. Normal Patrol and rescue services are not available. All normal bike park policies must be followed. It is not recommended to ride alone. Access is at user’s own risk. Tickets must be purchased online, but will not be printed. Please keep a copy of your transaction with you while riding.

 

Riders must only ride on designated bike trails, and follow all posted signage including closed trails. It is the rider’s responsibility to know what trails are closed.  Trail status can be viewed here.

Dogs are allowed at the base lodge area only. They must be on a physical leash and under control at all times. Dogs are not allowed on bike trails, near the chairlift or near biker traffic. Dogs are only allowed on trails during non operational days. Please pick up after your dogs.

Dogs are not allowed on the deck in the Beer Garden.

Helmets must be worn by all riders. Full-face helmets, along with knee and elbow pads, and other available body protection are recommended. Mt. Abram currently has normal half-shell helmets for rent, and knee and elbow pads for sale.

Our bike trails are designed for single riders riding single bikes. The following is NOT ALLOWED.

  • Tag-along (tow behind) bikes.
  • Child carriers that put more than one person on a bike.
  • Tandem bicycles.

Any other cycle, vehicle or apparatus for use on our chairlift and/or trails will not be allowed unless cleared with Patrol, the Lifts Department and the General Manager.

Anyone with equipment or skills posing an unnecessary risk for other riders will not be allowed to ride at the bike park.

Bicycles must have at least one hand brake and be appropriate for use on mountain bike trails. Disc brakes are recommended, along with front and rear suspension. If you are unsure if your bike is appropriate, we have a fleet of modern mountain bikes available for rent.

E-bikes are not allowed on the chairlift but are welcome to use our Uphill Trail to access the downhill trails. Please ride responsibly and tread lightly on our uphill trail. Only pedal assist Class 1 & 3 E Bikes are allowed. No other motorized equipment may be used on our trails. This includes but is not limited to: Dirt Bikes, OneWheels, Scooters, ATV and any device with a throttle.

Minimum tire size for lift access is 20 inches. 16” bikes may be used on Ally’s Alley and Moosylvania, accessible from the base area.

Our chair lift can accommodate tire widths up to about 4.5” depending on the particular tire and its construction. Any equipment that does not properly fit on our chairlift bike carriers will not be allowed on the lift.

Unicycles are allowed if the rider’s ability does not pose a major risk or inconvenience to other riders and the flow of traffic. They must be fixed gear or have brakes. OneWheels are not allowed on Mt. Abram trails.

We do allow our guests to camp on our property, however we do have some requirements.

Camping is only available for Mt. Abram customers. When you purchase your lift tickets you can add on a free camping pass, when you pick up your tickets we will give you a parking pass that must be displayed in your vehicle for the entirety of your stay. Please note camping is limited to self-contained vehicles only. We do not offer electric or sewer hookups for R.V.s, and do not have public restrooms or shower facilities for campers, however there is a port-o-john available. 

  • Camping is only allowed Thursday through Monday morning.
    Checkout time is 10am
  • Camping/RV parking is only allowed in the Mainside Parking Lot
  • No open fires, grills are okay 
  • No fireworks, explosives or guns 
  • Pack in pack out and leave no trace 
  • Mt. Abram property may not be removed 

Riders are responsible for knowing and following the Mountain Biker’s Responsibility Code:

1Stay in control. You’re responsible for avoiding objects and people.

2. Know your limits. Ride within your ability. Start small and work your way up.

3. Protect yourself. Use an appropriate bike, helmet and protective equipment.

4. Inspect and maintain your equipment. Know your components and their operation prior to riding.

5. Be lift smart. Know how to load, ride and unload lifts safely. Ask if you need help.

6. Inspect the trails and features. Conditions change constantly; plan and adjust your riding accordingly.

7. Obey signs and warnings. Stay on marked trails only. Keep off closed trails and features. Ride in the direction indicated.

8. Be visible. Do not stop where you obstruct a trail, feature, landing or are not visible.

9. Look and yield to others. Look both ways and yield when entering or crossing a road or trail. When overtaking, use caution and yield to those ahead.

10. Cooperate. If involved in or witness to an accident, identify yourself to staff.

Regular wear & tear is expected. Damage beyond that may leave you liable for the cost of repairs or replacing equipment. If you notice an issue with your equipment please let a rental technician know immediately so as to avoid liability.

No drones should be used on Mt.Abram property at any time without prior authorization from Mt. Abram

To ensure the safety of our guests and employees, hiking is not permitted on Mt Abram with the exception of the work road from the West Side base to the summit. No foot traffic is allowed on bike or ski trails.

Mt. Abram recommends hiking any of the hundreds of miles of hiking trails within 10 – 45 minutes of Mt. Abram.

Mt. Abram Bike Park is a smoke and vape free facility. Please use the parking lot if you need to smoke or vape tobacco.

Marijuana consumption is not allowed on our property.

Alcohol is available for purchase and consumption within the Beer Garden. Outside alcohol is not allowed. Please drink responsibly.  

Refund Policies

Season passes are non-refundable or transferable; however, in the case that you or a family member are injured and unable to ski or bike, Mt. Abram will consider issuing a rollover to the following season. Other situations may be eligible upon review. All requests must be submitted in writing to seasonpass@mtabram.com

We understand plans can change and while day tickets are non refundable, if you are unable to come to the mountain on the day you purchased the tickets please call or email to move your ticket to another day.

Lift Ticket Policy

We are open rain or shine! In the event of thunder reported by Mt. Abram Patrol, the lift will be closed for thirty minutes from the most recent occurrence. If the lift has only been open for two hours or less without the plan of reopening, you will be issued a Bike Park Lift Ticket Voucher equivalent to the ticket you purchased to come back and ride for free another day. If the lift has been spinning for more than two hours, vouchers will not be issued. Vouchers are given out in the Ticket Pavillon.

Daily lessons and rentals must be canceled at least 24 hours before designated start time to be eligible for a refund.

If cancelled after the 24 hour cut off, we will do our best to reschedule your booking for another day.

 

Seasonal Programs must be cancelled 30 days before the first program start date in order to be eligible for a full refund. Any cancellations after that will be addressed on a case by case basis and full refunds are not guaranteed.

Retail products can be returned or exchanged within 90 days. Products must be clean and unworn without damage to be eligible. Defective products can be returned or exchanged within 30 days of purchase and must have a receipt. 

Consumable items cannot be returned if opened.
