Maine’s Premier Family Winter Resort! - Week 17 Greeting Skiers and Riders, What a great time of year to get out and enjoy your mountain! People in the know realize that March is the best time of year to go skiing or boarding - sunny skies, longer days and the most snow of the year. So get yourself on up here and make some tracks at Mount Abram! We are packed full of exciting events this weekend starting with our Learn to Race Event and our Women’s Ski camp, followed by our Spring Fest Slopestyle Competition and our New England Telemark end of the year celebration. Read on for event details. Hope to see you all up here this weekend for super slope fun! Ski conditions and Mountain Services March 26th-29th we are reporting excellent spring conditions. There should be a lot of warm sun and fun! The perfect way to enjoy all of this is by skiing and deckin’. Cold beverages are another great addition! So as we put on the music to the deck and you lean back, soak the rays for your spring tan, you can rest assured it will be nothing but the life we all dream of. Ticket sales and food services are available only at main lodge. Westside is closed on Thursday but lifts and lodge resume on Friday (with the exception of food and ticket sales). Thanks to all the Tubing Enthusiasts What an awesome year we had in the tubing park! FUN, FUN, FUN! From personal experience I know it brought a lot of laughs and fun screams from our tubers. We look forward to seeing you again next year for another awesome tubing year. Tubing enthusiasts should be aware of our awesome ski/tubing season pass combo for next year. On Saturday and Sunday we have our final Learn to Race Program day. The course will be ready to go at 9am until 11 am. And they will have the tasty pizza party after prepared by Chef Joel. Chef Joel’s pizza is to die for—don’t miss out. Also on Saturday and Sunday we will be offering our FREE timed carve park for all of you speed freaks. Saturday the timed carve park will be on Dudley and Sunday it will be on Boris. Grab your skis or board and test your skills. Can you beat Matt’s time of the day? Racers, a reminder: coat and uniform orders need to be in by 4-10-09. Also if you haven’t already done so stop by the race room and pick up your training videos and picture discs - they are awesome! Coach LaVallee will be updating the blog throughout the summer so check in regularly. The Women’s Ski Camp The ultimate ski camp just for women. Our Downhill Divas program will be taking place March 27th. We are offering a 2-hour group lesson starting at 10:00 with our top women instructors to be followed with a delicious lunch and desert prepared by Chef Joel. You can sign up for the final day! Improve and gain confidence in your skiing while enjoying the company of other women at Maine’s best mountain. Lunch and lesson is $40 per day. Lift ticket not included but a special $10 AM only ticket available. Bullwinkle's Licensed Day Care is also available (call 207-875-5004 or e-mail BullwinklesDaycare@yahoo.com). We look forward to seeing you on the mountain. Spring Fest Slope-style Competition They've re-built the big park with huge jumps and rails in front of the main lodge. Come throw your best stuff in the spring park on Boris March 28th. Skiers and Riders of all ages are welcome to show off your stuff. Entry fee is only $15.00 and registration is from 9-11a.m. in the race room. Warm ups are from 9-12 and the competition begins at 12:00. Prizes and awards will be handed out at 4:30 on the main deck. New England Telemark Celebration Don’t miss out on the end of the year New England Telemark celebration going Saturday, March 28th. Have a good time closing out an awesome tele-season and start looking forward to next season. They will be bringing New England’s largest telemark festival to Mount Abram next season - don’t miss out. Cool New Spring Vid!
Weekend Overview
Thursday, March 26th: Watch the NCAA basketball championship on Mount Abram’s big flat screen television. There will be drink specials and delicious food. The $5 Mexican night is here so dig in for the best nachos in ski country add a draft beer and it’s what you wanted! Ski 2 for 1 all day Ski free after 3pm Friday, March 27th: Carload Friday: whole, legally seated car load can ski for only $75. Ski free after 3pm Chef Joel’s Meal Special: Meatloaf, Mashed potatoes with gravy, corn for only $9.99 or meat lovers pizza for only $8.99. Don’t forget about the cold beer. Saturday, March 28th: Spring Fest Slopestyle competition registration starting at 9 and race starting at noon Last day of Learn to Race located on Dudley 9-11a.m. followed by a pizza party for 15. Timed carve park on Dudley and self-timed carve park on Egomania Chef Joel’s Meal Special: Meatloaf, Mashed potatoes with gravy, corn for only $8.99 or meat lovers pizza on whole wheat dough for only $8.99. Season pass information for 2009-2010 is now available online.
