Maine’s Premier Family Winter Resort! - Week 16

Mt. Abram - Tanned faces and burnt knees!Hello spring skiing lovers!!,

Tanned faces and burnt knees were all in vogue last weekend and another great forecast is aligned for this one. Snow is scheduled to taper and the skies turn clear Thursday morning leaving us with a fresh blanket, sunny skies and temps in the high 30’s for Friday, the 1st Day of Spring. The mercury is expected to climb Saturday and Sunday with continuing sunshine. What an incredible stretch of weather.

For all our out-of-town guests looking for a place to enjoy a sensational weekend with family or friends, Joanne at New England Vacation Rentals reports “there are a few properties with openings for the three remaining weekends of this spectacular ski season. We have lowered rates on these homes and there are awesome opportunities for affordable get aways.”

Here are but a few of things you’ll find this weekend at Maine’s Mountain of Youth:

Cow Bells

Learn to Race at Mt. AbramLearn to Race Month continues this weekend with our new March program on hill from 9-11 Saturday. Timed racing will be available to all throughout the day Saturday on Egomania and will move to Boris on Sunday where I will be avenging two disappointing losses to Mt Abram’s Courtney Poston. If you see Courtney down in the dumps Sunday afternoon, just give her a big hug, as I plan on posting a season’s best run – no gotcha gates this weekend Coach Thibodeau.

Mt Abram’s Halie Gilman, as part of her senior project, is organizing a race to raise money for Special Olympics Sunday morning. The $10 entry fee is payable on hill.

Racers, a reminder: coat and uniform orders need to be in by 4/10/09. Also please stop at the race room this weekend and pick up your training videos and picture discs - They are AWESOME! Finally, new pictures and video have been added to the Race Blog. Coach LaVallee will be updating the Blog throughout the summer – check in regularly.

Saturday
The smell of Fresh ground, hand-packed tenderloin burgers will be waffling up Ego, Mahoosuc and Skyline again this Saturday. Wherever you find yourself at 11:30 ski, hike or snowshoe over and enjoy the good life at the Westside.

Saturday Night, a great Mt Abram tradition continues with the Saturday Night Potluck. The Kitchen will be closing at 5:30 to support and enjoy the 6:00 Potluck. There will be NO Kidz Night Saturday, however, following potluck we will be showing Miley Cyrus' Best of Both World’s movie on the 96” Mt-max Theatre. Everyone is welcome! Bring your favorite Main Dish, Side, or Dessert and enjoy a great evening amongst the Mt Abram Community.
