Mt Abram Friend,

After a great weekend of spring skiing, snowmobile hill climb and unbelievable burgers on the deck, we are excited about our upcoming weekend here at Mt Abram. Cool temps this week will allow us to move snow around to give us the best spring skiing for our final weekend here at Mt Abram.

Mt Abram Friend,

This morning the storm blew out and left us with snow flurries and freezing rain at the end. We didn't see the intense wind and rain like they did on the Maine coast leaving great conditions for the weekend and close to 100% of terrain to be open. The warm temps and sunshine will set us up for perfect spring skiing!

Mt Abram Friend,

I would have to boast that this past weekend was the best skiing of the year. The sun was shining and the snow conditions were perfect. Along with the perfect weather were the fantastic events we had ongoing all weekend. More of the same is planned for this weekend so don't miss out! The cool nights this week will help us carry another weekend of 100% terrain open plus some boundary to boundary that you may not have discovered yet. The rain that they were so eager to forecast at the begin of the week will not even come close to us this weekend, so don't let that be your excuse for missing some of the best turns in New England.

Mt Abram Friend,

The snowmaking efforts that went through last week made for some great corduroy runs this past weekend and will keep getting better with every pass of the groomer. Some weather models are still showing a snow storm around for the middle of the week so some fresh snow could be in play by the weekend. Stay connected throughout the week and check out the trail report for the most up-to date info!

Mt Abram Friend,

Another great weekend has passed us by full of great skiing, great events and great friends. The Snowmobile Hill Climb was a huge success and the Mt Dew Vertical Challenge was loads of fun on Sunday.

We weathered the storm very well considering the amount of rain that fell out of the sky. The mountain operations crew has been hard at work the past 48 hours working on trials and getting snow guns in place.

Mt Abram Friend,

Today our forecasted dusting of snow end up being 6 to 8 inch of light fluffy powder. To everyone that headed south early you really missed out on a great day of powder skiing Mt. Abram. This week another storm is scheduled for Tuesday night so lets hope for similar results. Snowmaking will continue this week starting tonight with plans to resurface terrain at Westside and the Main Mountain before the week's end.

Greetings from Mt. Abram,

Even though the natural snow has not found its way out of the sky for a couple of days, the cold temperatures have allowed the snowmaking team to keep covering the mountain with some great snow. I took a little trip to inspect the coverage on "Fearless Leader" and there must be 20 foot walls of snow that our snowmeister Chris Knight will be moving around tonight!

Greetings from Mt. Abram,

The holiday week has had some great skiing as you can see above in my shot of the corduroy on Boris Tuesday morning (good thing photos can't tell temperature). The Mt Operations team has once again worked there magic on the hill and created some great snow for all of us to rip up this past week and conditions only get better from here. This weekend's forecast looks like we will be getting a little help from mother nature with three straight days of snow. Current predictions are already calling for as little as 12" and up to 30". Make your plans to be at Mt Abram so you are not left out of the first real powder event of the season.

Greetings from Mt. Abram,

The fresh snow this past weekend and the scheduled storm on this Wednesday is a great start to the month and a welcoming start to the winter season in the western mountains of Maine. The cold temperatures have seemed to set in and will be allowing our snowmaking team to make some great coverage over the coming days. They have been hammering the snow guns on the top of the mountain since noon on Sunday and will continue around the clock preparing us for our December 19th opening.

While this month hasn't lent itself to early season snowmaking, based on long-range trends and analogs, starting around the 2nd, December is going to be COLD and SNOWY, a remarkable flip from November. Our Air and Water system is on ready alert and at a 1200 gallon/minute of uphill capacity, Mt Abram Snowmeister Chris Knight plans to make up a lot of ground in a hurry.

All of us at Mt Abram are so excited about the upcoming season, our 2nd as owners, and the Resort's 49th. In communication with our Meteorologist, Russ Murley, yesterday, he reports that while he is "still tweaking his official winter forecast" he is calling for "cold and snowier than normal". The cold is no problem for the outdoorsy soles, as we all know there is no such thing as bad weather in Maine, just bad clothing. The snow - well that's great news.

Mt. Abram - The Mountain of Youth - Learn to Race Month

March - Week 15

March and April leads us into the summer months but it's all White Grass here at Maine's most happening mountain, Mt Abram. The snowpack is deep and the afternoon temperatures have lent themselves to some fabulous skiing and afternoon “decking”. But what makes Mt. Abram so remarkable, aside from the great skiers, riders and families we attract, a service happy staff, the great food and tunes of the rocking Loose Boots Lounge is the unique Abram variety and excitement. With the East's best learning terrain feeding the Westside Lodge, and world class grooming, it is never too late to learn or keep improving our favorite winter sports.

Mt. Abram - The Mountain of Youth - Tele-Daze Telemarking Day

March - Week 14

Despite last week's soaking rain, followed by freezing temperatures, Mt Abram's OUTSTANDING groomers produced phenomenal skiing/riding and provided us with the “Best Snow In Maine”. Jeff and Chris Knight used their expertise and “reverse tilling” to give skiers, riders and tubers snow beyond what you would typically find at most mountains. The reverse tilling is a slow and tedious process that involves running the tillers in reverse rotation, resulting in beating the air into hard snow creating more powder-like conditions. With 10-12” of fresh snow in the forecast to add to our already superior skiing and riding, it all adds up to a great vacation week.

Mt. Abram - The Mountain of Youth - Mardi Gras

February - Week 13

A spectacular 24” snow event on Sunday was the exclamation to a superb week of skiing and entertainment. Though the days grow longer (and warmer), Sunday was a reminder that we are just starting snow season. March and April are not only capable bringing piles of snow but great days to enjoy the snow in.

We have a third of our season (6 weeks) and our best skiing and après-ski entertainment still in front of us. Saturday is forecasting as mostly sunny with temps in the low 30's and Sunday looks like a chance at some more snow – keep your fingers crossed.
